The Trust took this public opportunity to thank a number of individuals who have contributed significantly to the longevity and success of EBMT.

Evelyn Greaves was a distinguished Trade Unionist and cabinet Minister before his appointment as High Commissioner for Barbados to Canada in 2009. Highlights of his six-year tenure included the restructuring of the Trust and the publication of Some Barbadian-Canadians, a biographical dictionary describing the contribution of some 400 Bajans to Canadian society.

For years, Betty Hope-Gittens has been known in Ottawa and abroad as a successful businesswoman. Now in retirement, she devotes much of her time and talent to “giving back” both to Barbados and the Caribbean through the Trust, and to Canada by her volunteer work with Eldercare and Ethiopia Aid.

Gloria and her late beloved husband, Roger Wright, have adopted Barbados as their second home for close to fifty years. The Trust owes much of its success in the 2013 Gala Dinner to their unwavering support on the planning committee and their generous contribution to the auction.

Morris Redman has served the Ottawa Bajan community in different roles with exemplary commitment for more than forty years. He brought the same enthusiasm to his position as chair of the Trust during his tenure till 2016 and remains a Trustee.
